I owned the Orion I with the built in LDG tuner, and now own an Orion II
with the LDG model OT-11P tuner.  After engaging the tuner (e.g., the tuner
is active) and then changing bands, the Orion (both I & II models) turns off
the antenna matcher.

I think I just verified that.

Tuned up MAIN, TX (VFO-A) on 1.8Mhz.  Took an output reading at 28.0 Mhz on
the SUB (VFO-B).  Changed bands on the  transmitter (VFO-A) to 28 Mhz, and
the signal output on the sub receiver came up 12+ dB.  That supports the
notion that the tuner goes into bypass on a band change unless you retune it
by transmitting into it.  It didn't matter whether the tuner was retuned or
not to 28 Mhz.
