I echo Dick's comment Buck. 87A here too and an Acom 1000. I've had no problem with either. From time to time, I have monitored Orion keying waveform quite rigorously and have seen no sign of this.

Perhaps this is an anomaly of your Orion (i.e., ALC adjustment is off.) I
haven't observed any leading edge spike on my scope. Also, I use an Alpha
87A amp that's super-sensitive to power spikes from the rig. Never had a
problem with the Orion.

The Orion suffers from serious overshoot when first
transmitting.  The internal ALC must have a very slow attack.
 Mark that up as #14 on the  list.
