Hi Chas,
I have had feedback on various radios at Field Days.

Mostly the causes have been bad ground on coax jumper cables, loose coax
connectors, bad threads, (cross threaded) coax connectors, loose mike
connectors, bad shield in mike cable. Mike cable left plugged in while on
CW. (Took off mike cable. Both cables were quite long).

Also, critical length of antenna feeder lines going to non resonant
antennas. However, as we multi band by using non resonant antennas, we
carry alternate feeder lengths to add to any critical band situation,
(feedback cure).

Finally, mal adjusted Tee net tuners can create problems. Tune up with the
Ten Tec kit transmatch tuning source before connecting a rig. Once the T
kit says you have a 50 ohm adjustment on the input coax, you are good to go
to connect the rig in place of the T kit, and your antenna will be matched.

GL,
Stuart
