To get the CW going, make sure that the Keyer out jack is connected to the Key 
jack by a jumper. Your key goes to the Keyer Paddle jack. Tip is dit and ring 
is dah.
As for the mic, I use a 705 and the 706 should work fine. You need to get a 
manual for this and learn from that to adjust the ALC and Drive controls for CW 
and SSB operation. The best source for the manual is, of course, TenTec.

It is a great rig. I've got 2 with ext VFO's on my desk and love them. You will 
also when you learn to operate it. Yep, a manual is the best answer here
