I am very close to buying an Omni VI Opt 1 from Ten-Tec. They also have an Omni
VI and an Omni VI factory-upgraded to a plus. I'm leaning toward the Opt 1
based on the DSP, since I have a pretty bad noise problem at my QTH. Other than
the extra filter slot, is there any reason to go for the full upgrade. I'm
primarily a cw op and do a few contests. I just sold my Jupiter and wanted a
rig with a few crystal filter options, not just DSP. (Never really got into the
computer control.) I can't afford even a used Orion and don't see anything from
Japan that's in the price range with the Omni's receiver specs. Any comments
appreciated.
