try Ubuntu 7.04

Google Ubuntu, either download from on-line or request CD's (no charge
for it or mailing) it usually arrives within week and half.

Also type: "google linux", book mark it and it will become your bible to
all things Linux.

Go to Barnes Noble and look in PC section for "Ubuntu" books. you will
find a book that explains the operating system very easy to understand
for beginners.

Finally, search for ham radio applications (there are many) that will
meet your needs.

I spent total of 4 weeks playing and learning the operating system and
on other aspects, almost 2 months before coming comfortable with it.
I dumped Vista and never looked back.

The 516 will be supported as will Omini's and Oerions.

You then have the best of both worlds, Ten Tec support and Linux
community support.
Have fun!

"got linux?"
