In checking the band this morning. The noise level is fluctuating between
S-2 and S-3 but closer to S-2. RF gain at MAX, no attenuation. The antenna
is a 256 ft center fed wire, balanced feed. Tentec 238 tuner adjusted for
SWR of 1.2:1. Receiver terminated into 50 ohms, S-meter reading is S-1.
Freq is 28.350 USB

Nice quiet rural neighborhood 6 miles from town.

What sort of noise environment do you live in?

Urban?

Suburban?

Rural?

Quiet rural?

If you are at the bottom end of the scale (lucky you!) then there
won't be much of a change and you'll be limited by galactic noise
(see the VK1OD graphs).

If you can hear the antenna (ambient) noise increase then you have a
low enough noise figure to hear signals in your environment.

No locals to recruit for a 10m QSO?
