I've found the "Sounds Sweet" to be a great asset to my TT 564 on SSB, but
still prefer my old and trusty Hallicrafters R46B with original speaker
circa the early 50's for CW.
If you are fortunate enough to find a nice original R46B today, it would
likely cost about the same as a new Sounds Sweet speaker but look a hell of
a lot nicer and be better on weak, low tone CW notes in the hash on the low
bands. I use the same two speakers for the same modes with identical results
with my TS-950SDX and on occasion when I fire up my ole TS-830S too. For
what it may be worth, I heard from another ham who had a Hallicrafters R46B
he had broken the speaker cone during a move and installed three different
ten inch replacement speakers, none of which he said sounded anything like
the original. The reason I mention this is that if you find one with a
speaker that is hurt in any way, I suggest you pass on ownership of it
unless you buy it for the cabinet and continue searching for a beat up one
with a good speaker to swap out. 73, -=Rog-K9RB=-
