I don't think we were talking about open-sourcing. This comes up every now
and again. I don't believe TT will go for that as they believe they have
considerable intellectual property tied up in it and aren't about to give it
away. I think the topic here was the proposition of opening up a revenue
stream that would allow them to keep development going on existing firmware
at a small cost to the users. Without that, there is little incentive to
move developers off of new, capital-producing products to support already
released ones. Yes, we all know about the "good will" factor of
straightening out bugs that remain, but, when push comes to shove, a revenue
stream speaks for itself and carries more weight than a good will effort.

I don't own an Orion, but the notion of open sourcing the firmware would
be amazing.. I suspect they won't do this for multiple reasons though.
