If the address they want money sent to differs from their address in QRZ 
etc. I will do some checking before sending money, and if it is a large 
quantity of money I almost always check, the safest way is to direct 
deposit, that way the money goes into a verifiable account.  Always get a 
phone number and call it or you can usually verify a phone number in Google 
if its a listed home phone and above all if it feels suspicious, it probably 
is.  After all the above is done you may still get ripped off but its very 
unlikely and usually its only a dispute over the value or the rating on the 
1-10 scale.
