Going into self oscillation is signs of some sort of feed back. I agree, not
familiar with this radio Jerry is no doubt right.
Just as a side note check Microphone solder joint at the connectors to see if
something strange is going on and also look over the mic cable to see if it was
badly pinched or pulled apart at one time. If an area looks like it was
flattened at one time or just a might smaller in diameter or just does not feel
right when you pinch the cable at a bit strange at a location, suspect it and
maybe replace the cable.
