Another option: use an MFJ 464 Keyer/Reader. Connect to the output of
a speaker and it deciphers CW, the faster sent, the better it reads.
The MFJ 464 has 4 memories: store your call and exchange, for most S &
P you don't have to even use a key.

I connected the reader output of the 464 to a old Windows PC (a
discard) and thus have the CW reader output to a big display. I found
the display on the 464 too hard to read from a distance or angle, now I
can read the result from several feet away.

The 464 is not great with QRN, nor if the code is poorly hand sent, but
for those signals 25 WPM sent by other PC's, a quick call sign, too
many 5's, H's or dit's, it's a great backup to my ears.

The disadvantage....you still have to enter the call and exchange to
your contest program. Mine runs on a second computer and they are not
linked together. It keeps it simple.

OK, I just checked the manual and find nothing about receiving CW. N1MM
does
generate CW for contesting as well as allowing sending CW from the
keyboard. Not
an issue to me as when I contest, it is for play these days. Just don't
have the
energy to compete a
ny more. I also personally prefer to receive by ear
and to
squeeze the paddles to send. Just my personal choice, even in contests.
Results
in slower operation with fewer Q's, but that's what I like.

Should you prefer something else, then MixW2 is probably a much better
choice
for  you. As I said before, there are lots of products out there to do
the job,
because we all have different preferences. That's a good thing both for
and
about ham radio.

Hope this helps
