Absolutely,....one of the best products they have ever produced. I run mine
with an L4B and alternate from a Omni VI+3 to my Drake TR7. Top notch audio
with both radios. Why this unit was not used in the original Omni Series is
beyond me. Guess it was a price point issue. Not new technology to be
sure.

There's no reason that the RF cannot be amplified just because it has a higher 'average' power. After all, amps were used with the internal processor in the Omni VI. This one's just much better.Dave WA3MKB----- Original Message ----- From: "CSM(r) Gary Huber - AB9M" <glhuber@msn.com> To: atrampler@att.net, "Discussion of Ten-Tec Equipment" <tentec@contesting.com>Sent: Tuesday, September 8, 2009 1:04:58 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: Re: [TenTec] 715 questionI've added the 715 to my Omni VI+ and the RF processing really helps in the pile-ups against the smaller amplifiers with no processing. If one has NO amp, the TT 715 is a very cost effective investment OR one can use the TT-715 while the AMP is warming up or with the AMP, in any situation it adds to the average power and intelligibility.73 & DX, Gary - AB9M-------------------------------------------------- From: "Art Trampler" <atrampler@att.net>Sent: Saturday, September 05, 2009 8:19 AM To: "'Discussion of Ten-Tec Equipment'" <tentec@contesting.com> Subject: Re: [TenTec] 715 questionWell I'm glad I asked the question...it wasn't for me, but for a frienddeciding on an AMP, etc for his O2. He's an SSB operator only (I'm CW only)but I wanted to look into this. Thanks for the feedback. I had a 715 and returned it.My rig is a Jupiter. Consenses was that the Jupiter did as well as could beexpected without it. As a result it was returned without even giving it a trial run. Now I'm thinking there may have been a rush to judgement on my part. You disable theOrions built in processor and use just the 715. I have been extremely happywith the results. It PLAYS. 73, Steve W1DXH-----Original Message----- From: Art Trampler <atrampler@att.net>To: 'Discussion of Ten-Tec Equipment' <tentec@contesting.com> Sent: Fri, Sep 4, 2009 11:54 pm Subject: [TenTec] 715 questionNot owning an Orion or Orion II, is the internal speech processor on eitherf them an RF speech processor comparable in function and results to the 15? In other words, would the 715 be redundant with either of these?
