FWIW - I just put LEDs in a T2X controller internally lit meter - with
diffused LEDS - don't like it very well.Played a lot with current and
sanding them more etc.
I see that All Electronics . www.allelectronics.com
has a LP-23 catalog number 14 volt 40 ma 3 for $1 T1 3mm with wire leads
.(a bunch of other variations as well like 28v at 40 ma etc etc .)

Jim and John, I have a Titan II which has the same situation. My
understanding from the service manager at Ten Tec is that the removal and
installation of the lamps is no easy task. They said they would furnish
the
leds at no charge. Perhaps the Titan III and Titan II models require the
same procedure. I would appreciate hearing your experience should you
undertake the project. Thanks. '73, Bob K4BG

Hi Jim.....
They're hardwired, so I should probably go with the LED's, since they
have
a
longer life. TT only gives their part number and I have not yet pulled
the
meters.

TT does not stock the original incandescent meter lamps.
What's the mfr/part number of the lamp? Is it a standard industry type?
Older Ten Tec gear (Titan 425, Herc I, Herc II, 229 and 238 tuners) all
use
standard bayonet lamps that are easy to source from industrial vendors.
I
simply buy boxes (a dozen or so lamps per box) of 14V long life bulbs. I
replaced all the bulbs in one 229B with LEDs and series resistors, but
am
not
satisfied with the result, so I've stuck with incandcescents in the
other
four. YMMV.
