I used to have a Peggy, and one of the relays on the band pass filter board failed...if I remember right, the relay coils for both input and output of the filter are wired in series...I replaced mine with two new relays that had 6 volt coils. ----- Original Message ----- From: "phil g" <trapperpg@earthlink.net>

Here is a link to the relay. Also avail. from Ten Tec.

Fairly straight forward to replace. Unsolder the old, solder in the new.

Yes, I have tried without the tuner. I thought they may be a problem. Have
you ever tried to replace them?

Dave,
The relays are a know source of headaches in the Pegasus. Most all relay
failures I have heard of were the result of an open coil winding. Said
relay failure will result in no output on one or more bands, depending on
number of defective relays...there are 2 per band.
I would hazzard a guess it is more possible that a relay(s) has stuck,
preventing proper switching of the bandpass filters.
Have you tried without the tuner?
Check pin diodes that switch receive bandpass filters.

I think schematics are floating around on this list..

Subject: [TenTec] Pegasus 550

Hi all,

I have a Pegasus 550 with the Auto Tuner option that I bought at
Dayton 2000. This radio has performed flawlessly all this time until this
weekend. Whenever I try to transmit or tune on 80 meters, the power
supply
trips on overload. I know it's not an antenna problem as I use the same
antenna on other rigs. This tripping on 80 meters happens even with no
output power applied. I tried a heaver power supply and it just loads the
supply down and dims the lights.

I have uninstalled & reinstalled the software from the computer as
well as re-flash the firmware in the radio. I also looked inside and saw
no obvious flashing or burning on the board or components.

I did however notice that the small Hasco relays (14 of them) on the
main board seem to have some sort of corrosion on their plastic cover. I
have not a clue where that came from. Some of them seemed to have a
slight
oil film on them. Are these perhaps filled with some sort of dialetric
fluid to limit internal arcing and they are leaching it out?

Anyway, if anyone has any comments or suggestions I would really
appreciate them. I would hate to ship it off to Ten-Tec just to discover
this is a simple problem that happens all the time with a simple fix.

Thanks
Dave KB9EPL
