This issue is a * dead horse * to me so this is my last post on the
topic.

Hi Terry,

I don't know if you are waiting for NT0F to answer your post, but I'll
try to explain. While there have been problems and failures, no radio
owner has come forth and stated any specifics. Ten-Tec will not talk
about specific radios belonging to customers, so we are at an impasse.
And there is really no way to quantify the number of problem boards
against radios sent in for service and/or against total sales of the
Omni 6. We just don't have the information.

It's my understanding after my talk with the company that it just comes
down to the cost of repair vs. the value of the transceiver.

I also believe TT when they say that just because a radio has a problem
with the logic board doesn't necessarily mean the cannot fix it. But
again, it comes down how much to spend fixing it.

* Putting things in perspective *

How many radios are we talking about? I have no idea, but just for
fun let's say there were 10,000 of the Omni VI (+) family built and
sold. Out of those, 5% (500) had legitimate service problems (not
lightning damage, etc.). Then out of that 20% (100) had an issue with
the logic board. Of that 20%, 20% (20) of them could not be fixed
economically. *We are now talking about 20 radios*, or .2% of total
sales. And this situation has only manifested itself in the last -
what - 5 years? These are just numbers out of the blue, but it provides
a perspective.

* *

If my VI+ were to fail (which it probably won't) it would be a happy
funeral because I could take the wonderful RF boards and rebuild them
into something even more fun :)
