Near the feed point its mostly magnetic coupling, but at the outer ends
its mostly capacitive coupling. The fanning idea is more effective the
greater the spread out to at least 30 degrees fan angle. I'd shoot for
several feet, not one foot.

Novice question:
Presumptions: I make a fan dipole. I get the elements and
their ends only a foot or so apart from the
other elements, respectively.
Question: So... Do they couple / interact in a capacitive or
inductive sense? Or... do they couple / interact
in some other electromagnetic sense?
Thanks. Happy Trails.
