One of the first things I did with my 1340 was apply power backwards.  Oops.  
All the IC's got replaced, and on the advice of TenTec, the final too.  I don't 
think anything else was damaged.

After that I put a series diode in.  The minor power loss was less of a deal 
than the fear of doing that again.
