Martin,

If you are referring to my comment about the 600Hz INRAD filter, then yes,
it makes a BIG difference.
I MUST go in the first bank of filters; it cannot be used in place of one of
the CW filters.
With that, the only logical place to put it is in place of the 1000 Hz
filter.

Does it make a difference on the Orion 565 which slot you plug a filter in?
I mean you can fix the crystal filter in the menu so you could have any
fitted filter in all the time if you wanted. I guess the Omni VII doesn't
have that menu choice.

I won't take you up on that Barry, because you would win!

Remember what we did with the original Orion (1)?
We inserted a 600 Hz INRAD roofing filter in place of the 1kHz filter, and
it worked just fine with the DSP from 600 Hz, all the way down to 50.

James is already into serious contesting, but so far only on SSB.
He is part of a BIG M2 contesting team in Michigan.
He will soon be needing that 300 Hz filter!

Yes, that's exactly what you do - install the 300hz filter as if it's a
500hz filter, and it kicks in when dsp selectivity is set to 500hz.
I'm willing to bet that the combination of 300hz filter and dsp at 400-500hz
would yield outstanding results.
