When shortly after being licensed in 1959, I built an amp with four 6DQ5 sweep tubes. These were in a parallel and push-pull configuration. I drove the control grids in push-pull and the plates were connected parallel. The screens were then modulated with audio thus I had a 600 watt balanced modulator. The result was 600 watts of DSB with about 20 dB of carrier suppression.

Give me an idea and I'll try about anything...........once.

My dream was to build an amp with 4x 1625's in push-pull parallel.
At the end of the day, I built the amp with 3x 811a instead - straight out
of the Handbook.

Nothing like class AB1 or AB2 push pull audio from a pair of 6V6GT's.

we had a cat that loved the top of that receiver on a cold winters day..but
she kept getting her claws hung up on the top covers vent holes.
Called her our "excess filament heat absorption unit".
I really miss that old SX101A..the audio was georgous..but it sure did like
to drift.

I hope you can afford the electric bill... that
is quite some heater! ;-)
