A/B antenna tests, and F/B ratios on beams if you have a stable local
signal.  

I would also add in the "next" category, remote capability like the K3-K3/0
where you have 'dummy' radio or control head with all of the controls and
read-outs but no RF/IF components that connects over LAN or WAN to the main
radio.  In addition to a remote hardware control head like the K3/0, my
'dream radio' would have an interface that would allow full function,
including audio and CW keying over the internet from a laptop, pad computer
or smart phone app.

Why bother with an S meter?   In every contest that I've worked every one 
receives and gives a 599 report followed by "uh, could you give your call
phonetically as I did't get it".  Geez, I thought one of those number was
"readability".  I suppose, for the past 55 years, I've been misinformed on
the reporting procedures.
