A very short piece of wire with two phono plugs on the end has done the
trick! There is no more display instability on transmit. The cord I had
been using was 3 or 4 feet long so it could have been picking up some RF,
especially on bands where my antenna is close to the radio.
The radio didn't come with a jumper plug for the accessory connector but
it
appears to work in spite of that. Do I need to short two of the pins on
that connector together? I can't tell from the schematic which two pins
you are referring to. I see +REG coming from the IF-AGC board, but I
don't
see a connection between the PTO and the accessory connector. Can you be
more specific?

The jumper needs to be short, maybe a three inch piece of insulated #14
formed to a U with phono plugs soldered on. It sounds like the transmit
or
receive offset switch is on. The other thing to consider is the
accessories molex connector should have a plug with a jumper from the +
regulated line to PTO enable.

Subject: [TenTec] DIY VFO jumper for Omni B
Can anyone tell me what the external VFO jumper for an OMNI B should look
like? When I bought the rig, it came with the external VFO which I no
longer have. Now to make the rig work, I think I need to replace this
jumper. I have tried just using a RCA cable that I had around the shack,
but when I transmit, the displayed frequency jumps around wildly, so I
don't think that is right.
I have some RCA connectors and some wire, but I don't know what exactly I
am trying to make. Can someone offer a description or a picture of what
the original external VFO jumper looked like so I can attempt to
duplicate
it? Or failing that, can someone explain why my simple RCA cable doesn't
work?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
