I was speaking of a manual tuner sitting beside the transceiver, not remote.

Running 100w through a remote auto tuner with balun (even 4:1 balun) is
usually not a problem.
If you up the power to 1kW and try to match an openwire fed antenna with a
remote tuner and 4:1 balun, you will often have common mode current problems
that do destructive things. You can use a 1:1 balun and usually get the
common mode current under control, but then your remote tuner won't find a
match because its matching range is no broad enough.

In theory you can do this, but if we look to the specific products on the
market today, you can't, except with a German built tuner costing about
$2000.

Low power does have its advantages! :-)

I have a remote 150 watt auto-tuner that works FB with a balun on the
output.
I don't need to be concerned with feed line loss and the tuner, feed line and
camper are not part of the antenna.
I have never used a remote manual tuner.
