Hmmm...    lower power = cleaner signal ...    Hmmm....

Maybe you overstate your case? A 100 watt rig should be clean through all 100 watts. One should not have to lower power and run an amp to have a clean signal. Otherwise, the mfr should call it an 80 watt rig, with 20 watts overhead on the dial above the clipping point, or something to that effect.

BTW -- early K3s shipped with firmware allowing them to be cranked to
120W out, but IMD got pretty bad, and firmware was subsequently modified
to limit output power to 110W.
