John,

The WB8VGE amp keyer is really a sweet product but the 318 does have one
additional feature which I could not live without (due to my old amp). It
has an adjustable post-dit "hang" delay. If Mike's unit does too, he
doesn't say so and I don't see any adjustment on the PC board for this
feature.

Without this hang delay, when running CW, my old amp's open-frame TR relay
chatters like crazy.
I absolutely must have it.

If you have an amp with a fast relay, you may not need it.
If you only run SSB you will never need it.
For for CW and digi modes you may need it.

However it is a very simple circuit that could be added to the amp keyer.
Maybe Mike will even include it with a version 2 of the amp keyer.

The Eagle is the only recent transceiver from Ten-Tec that requires this.
The Omni's and OM7 have a menu adjustment for the hang delay.

It would be nice if Ten-Tec could add this but from what John Henry has
stated in the past, it is missing the hardware to do so. The hardware will
cost about $3.

Dennis,
I just bought an Eagle, so not in the Market for anything else at this time.
Have an Omni V, a Corsair II with DDS Vfo, an old 540, and an Argo 509, so
I'm still in good shape TT wise!

Bob, I'm not really too concerned since I have WB8VGE's amp keyer, and it
works fine. I'll have two male DIN plugs with wires already soldered to the
plug, so I won't have to try to solder anything else to the current ACC1
meltable plug to attach anything besides the amp keyer.

So I'm not in the market for the 318 at this point, since I can easily put
two devices on the cable I'll have, as has been suggested with the 318.

Seem to recall that Tentec has a "Y" type connector that will allow one to
use two devices such as a soundcard and amp keying line.

Also, seem to recall the amp keying accessory {318} has a 2nd DIN that
allows for amp keying delay plus a second accessory.

Might check with Paul in Service on this.
