With SSB, NONE.

With CW, well two potential problems.
The relay in the ALS-600 is very slow - about 20ms on average - despite
Ameritron's claim of 15 ms.
You need to add some time sequencing.

Unfortunately the 15mS pre-dit delay is fixed and not adjustable, but it
goes a long ways in protecting the relay on the front end.

You also need to add a couple hundred ms of hang delay. The OM7 has a menu
item where you can do this but by default it is turned off (set to 0). If
my memory serves me right, I believe it adjusts in increments of 50ms.
It's been 7 or 8 years since I have operated an OM7.

But as I said, with SSB it's not really an issue, especially when running
PTT.
Even with vox it's not as bad as CW because the voice starts soft and rises,
so the initial blast of RF is at low power (unless you sneeze!)

I had an ALS-600 for a few years and it is a very nice amp.
If you are serious about CW, Phil Salas, AD5X has two different mods to the
relays. You might want to try one or the other.

Got a used Ameritron ALS 600 coming in the mail this friday. Anyone have any
problems running one with either an Orion or Omni 7?
I plan on driving the amp with no more than 50 watts, primarily on 160 and
80 meter ssb.
