The encoders may have been damaged in the lightning hit, or may have a damaged voltage source, perhaps intermittently.

I would replace any filter caps on the voltage supplies to the encoders, check other components, etc. Do you know what circuit the SCR supports? From the current drain of the controlled circuit, you can determine the rating in current and voltage of the SCR.

For the gate connection, see what voltage source is supplying it, and what current might flow based on limiting resistance in series, or shunt.

Examine the present part with a magnifier, there might be faint markings or tiny stamped National Stock Number (NSN xxxxxx--) which might help lead you to the part no.
