Hi all and many thanks for all the help...
Here's a very quick summary of what I learned...
1 - Don't use the sonotube - put the base
in undisturbed soil...
2 - If you do use a sonotube, only use about
the top 18 inches or so for a neat appearance.
3 - Keep the concrete moist during the cure time...
4 - Cure time is 28 days - backed up by Army Corp
of Engineers data...
Other tips:
Moisten the hole prior to pouring the
concrete..
Keep the top moist with wet rugs, straw,
etc..
Don't pour when the wx is hot..
