I make a nice permanent ink mark on the casing and base
to indicate alignment of a rotor to north.  That way, when I'm 
checking it out on the ground, I know to align the marks 
BEFORE I disconnect it from the rotor control box and go 
up the tower with it. 

(sorry for the use of the term 'north' here).
