If anyone drills through a concrete floor (or laterally through a basement
wall) to install ground rods, make sure you seal around the holes/rods with a
good quality flexible sealing compound. Otherwise this can become a major
entry point for radon gas which often accumulates beneath a slab, but may not
be getting into your living space otherwise.

I would drill a hole in the concrete floor and drive a ground rod as deep as
you can go. You might consider welding two ground rods together and place
16 feet in the ground instead of just 8 feet.
