Hi All

A friend of mine just got back from Kingston Ontario (one of the very hard
hit Ice storm areas) and saw 1 600 ft tower that just collapsed due to the
4" of ice on it. He said all the guys where still atttached, and it just
crumpled.

There was also a couple of great (?) shots from the air, where 100 or so
High Tension towers had collapsed and all their wires just lying beside the
crumpled tower in a nice straight line.

I haven't heard of what has happened in the amateur community out there
(yet), but I'm sure it is a mess. In one area near Ottawa, the military
had taken over the local 2M repeater and was working with EMO as well.

Some people will be without power for weeks, although they are getting help
from power companies from as far away as Detroit (and maybe further).

Mike
