I wonder if anyone has successfully gamma matched (or otherwise) the boom of
a TH-11 , TH- 7, or TH- 6 for 30m. or 40m. (all 24' booms). I would be
interested in your methods and if the results were encouraging enough to be
worthwhile.
I also question the conductivity through the preformed "big grip" ends for
commonly used galvanized guy wire. If one was somewhat relying on the guy
wires to help disperse a potential lightning strike, with screw-in ground
guy anchors, would a jumper wire need to be installed around the "big grip"
on each end of the guy wire? The big grips seem to be impregnated with
something like sand and a clear coating to adhere it. I would imagine this
stuff prevents a good metal to metal contact? I'll be using jumpers at the
ground ends, directly from the guy wire, by way of bronze attachments to # 2
ga. copper wire to 8" copper clad ground rods at each anchor. I'm wondering
if I need to do the same thing on the tower to make these efforts
worthwhile?
