Yes, this idea would work but not without some problems. Remember that
the 25/45 gin pole isn't designed for very heavy loads, so you need to
watch the mast's weight. Also remember that the rope is going to rub
hard against the thrust bearing because the gin pole cannot position the
pulley directly over the center. The other trick would be to find a way
to secure the rope at the base of the mast, perhaps using some sort of
clamp. There may be a way to make this work well with some care.
