Gregg,
Modeling quads can be effectively done in either MININEC or NEC-2. Since
quad elements want to be arranged symmetrically around a center (boom
point), one of the packages offering symbolic entry may be the fastest to
use in design exercises. That way you can initially model in free space
using +/-X and Z values. Then later, when you check the model over
ground, you can change the Z values to +/-Z+H, where H is the height. AO
offers symbolic value entry--check QST etc. for ads for K6STI, Brian
Beezley. If you wish to stick to numeric entry, the perhaps EZNEC v. 2
might be useful from W7EL, Roy Lewallen--same sources. By the end of the
year, there will be a new package from NECWin which will be W95 and also
offer symbolic value entry, but that is several months away.
