I have an autobrake winch on a 3 section telescopic (WestTower?)
which has seized with the weight on the (telescoping) winch. The
tower is up about 35ft. What's the best thing to do:
1. Tilt the tower with it slightly extended (as it is), and once
horizontal and the wieght's off the other winch, strip it down.
2. Jack the sections up to take the weight off the winch and strip it
down in situ.
OR...
perhaps someone knows a way of un-seizing these things in situ with
the weight on them. There's one Fritzel tri-bander and a 5ele for 6m
up the tower.
Perhaps someone knows how to stop these damned things from seizing
up? Any ideas gratefully received.
