Hello Terry,
I have a simple rule I live by..
people safety items like carabiners, aka snap-links, safety belts
and harnesses, people safety lines are ONLY used for that
apllication, NOTHING else.
for hauling , lifting, tying off other items, or guying I use shackles,
turnbuckles, or other accepted guying materials within their ratings.
Some carabiners are aluminum others are steel.
I usually condemn safety items after being used in a
NON-SAFETY role.
