       Grease on the threads? That would cause LESS friction and probably
contributed to your problem. I would recommend using LockTight or other
fastener supplement to keep them working. 

      I have found loose rotor base bolts in Orion rotators. I don't think
I've run across loose Hy-Gain bolts.

     Couldn't hurt. An excellent reason to have an annual tower inspection.
