Hi Mike...
The phasing coax will not be exactly 1/2 wave to get it to play properly...
See either the ARRL antenna compendium, or a recent ARRL Handbook or Antenna
Handbook for the information by W7EL (Of EZNEC fame), and some other authors,
on getting the phasing coax the correct length... It is not difficult once you
read the article...
I'm sorry that I don';t have the compendium number and page numbers right at
hand as the books are home and i am at the office... Others on the list may
fill on the blanks here...
On ground versus elevated... You need 8-12 radials for an elevated array... I
have done these and they play well... However wind, ice, and falling branches
can make them high maintenance... If you have the patience to put down 60
radials on the ground for each element you should see a significant increase
in performance, per W8JI who actually did the experiments and took data (but
no prisoners :)
