I used a telephone for years. There was an article in QST in 1956 or 1957
on how to make a tee rarangement to support the antennas and rotor. The
article was also in the ARRL handbook and ARRL antenna books for a number of
years. I supported several antenna including a Gonset 3el tri-bander, a
pair of quads, and a Mosley TA-36. Several other hams used a track on the
side of the pole to pull up an antenna and rotor. Be sure to get a set of
steps so you can climb the pole, 10 feet for a 50 (actually 60 footer) is
about right (I used 8 feet for the 55 footer I had but I guyed it at the 44'
level once.
