Hi all,
Thank you, to all of you who brought me up to date on this subject. I
received some excellent information on Ufer grounds, all of which was also
published on the reflector.

 Hi Steve, et al.

I saw a program on The Learning Channel the other night about
lightning. One place in the show showed the lightning
protection
for the Space Shuttle while sitting on its launch pad. It
showed
some 1" cable running in 2 directions from a lightning rod on
top
of the launch pad to some eyebolts in a concrete pad a long ways
from the shuttle itself. It didn't show any cables running from
the eyebolt to a ground rod of any type. Maybe it was grounded
under the concrete pad. The shuttle took a couple of good
lightning hits without any damage to the electronics or anything
on board. Too bad the tower guys have to be broken up. This
would be a neat way to protect antennas, etc from lightning
 damage. 73
