You might also consider using slightly over sized stainless steel hose clamps 
around the tower leg. Because the clamp is oversized, you can slip the Cu 
strip in between two layers of stainless steel, the outer layer and the inner 
"overlap" layer of the clamp. The inner overlap layer will space the Cu from 
the tower leg. I have been doing this for a long time with no problems.
