Two of my neighbors within a mile were selling
the stuff. They were so glad to get rid
of it, I paid something like 15 cents a foot,
less than the scrap metal value. One guy
threw in a 30 foot trailer to haul it away.
That looked pretty weird attached to my minivan!
I just missed out on another deal that was
"free, haul it away".

It's getting hard to get new however.
BTW, new 4 inch is selling for $1.35 a foot
around here.

With the introduction of center pivot irrigation systems, farmers
are dumping irrigation pipe on the salvage market like crazy. Any
where irrigated farms making these changes you can
usually buy the used pipe for about $1 per foot from scrap dealers.

There are several scrap places locally that have thousands of
feet on their yards ranging in size from 2-8 inches. I think that the
4" and 6" sizes are the ones found most often. Lengths run from
10 to 40 feet.
