Chuck,

I have seen limit switches added to the interfering tower legs and small
plates to trip the limit switch added to the boom of antennas used on the
Swinging Gate. Allen Bradley and others makes limit switches that are 
water proof. These were wired in series with the original rotors limit
switches external to the rotor.
