Toaster wire - insulated from the elements - from the boom to element tip. 
Apply a little juice with a timer every 60 seconds. They would probably even 
learn not to sit there anymore after a while.

Now this looks like a great business opportunity for some enterprising
guy.  Couldn't something be
rigged up to intermittently pump a little current through the antenna and
give the birds a little
shock? (and isolate the expensive rigs at the same time!!!)

I'd sure buy one.....the pigeons are making a mess of my pool deck!!!
