I'd agree with you Hasan. Also, keep in mind to that the currents and
voltages in each leg of a dipole are opposite in both sign and in phase.
I've read some literature that suggests you actually get some signal
cancellation due to this fact when you start to bring the wires outside of
the horizontal plane (ie: closer together). I can't quote it because it's
been years. An inverted V certainly can't be optimal by any stretch of the
imagination.
Still, it's popular because you can get a full size antenna in a much
smaller area and you don't have to worry about elevating the ends.
