To avoid the eventual rusting of steel wool, and still keep out the
critters, I stuff my conduit both ends with a couple of the copper-clad pot

Great idea!  I have successfully used pvc pipe with 90 elbow for just
a couple of cables, but the 4" pipe gives "growth" and we all know that
another feedline will be needed sooner or later!

After running the cables, stuff the conduit with a ball of steel wool.  The
critters will not munch through it and will have to stay outside!
