I had a problem with several of the A-3 antennas I use for 'spray antennas'
in contests. I had to boil the water off. In the A-3 antennas, the water will
collect if the elements are not parallel with the ground. No debris was
found in mine. This past summer of much heavier than usual rain was the
culprit...14 inches in August alone.
