Years ago when manufacturing techniques were still in the stone age, the
question of build or buy was a valid one. Nowadays, with modern
computer controlled design and manufacturing and other advanced
materials and techniques, one can usually buy a superior product for
less than the equivalent time and money invested. This is a
generalization of course and there will always be exceptions.
This is not to detract from homebrewing. Far from it. I like to
homebrew, but I don't kid myself that I am saving time or money or
creating a superior product.
