I have used toothpaste to polish plastic. It does a good job of polishing but will not take out any real nicks or scratches but does a nice job of buffing up a clear plastic cover.

There are products made for polishing aircraft windshields. Nothing worse
than landing into the sun with tiny scratches in the windshield. You could
try mail order (e.g. Sporty's Pilot Shop, Aircraft Spruce, or equivalent) or
just go down to the local small airport and ask around. Take your
controller with you and you might get a free trial?

Basically they're a fine grit in a paste. (non-clear-gel)Toothpaste is
reputed to work well, but I'd try it in an inconspicuous/noncritical place.

Do you know what kind of plastic the meter face is?

Is there a way to remove scratches on a plastic meter face? I have an
older
rotator control box that was given to me and the direction meter has heavy
scratching, making it very difficult to read. Is there any way to polish
or
buff this so to eliminate or reduce the scratches?

Thanks,
Rick
