When I refurbished mine, I threw away the metal spacers that fit between the
balls, and filled the complete race with balls. This spreads the weight more
evenly, and prevents the denting, and wear and tear on the raceway. I also
used very slightly larger balls than the original, which compensated for the
previous wear and tear, and tightened up everything better than new.

You might also want to take a close look at the bearing races. I acquired
an old and apparently abused Ham IV last year and the bearings didn't look
good. When I cleaned up the races and looked at them closely, they were
badly dented from the bearings. Apparently the rotor had been overloaded,
damaging the races. Unfortunately, the races are simply cast into the
ALUMINUM housing and are not very forgiving. I was able to buy
replacement housing castings from the usual rotor parts sources for a
reasonable price.

Peter,

Replace them all, The last time I had to do it they were $.03 US. They
are
3/8 (.375) inch. Look for a place that sells commercial bearings. CATS
gets $.01.

Hi

Can some one tell me the size of the brearing balls of a Ham IV rotor.
The manual doesn't say any thing on the size.
I need to replace a few of them
